OUTREACH the newsletter of 7a4 7 e 7ellaacaa ettcfr e T sfrctaai udstad udetad Ude tad rttenwhttoni MARCUS BACH founder no 76 THE LETTER dear friend of the fellowship the other day in san jose I 1 conducted an allday all day seminar workshop many things happened one woman decided to give up smoking another promised herself she would lose twelve overweight pounds A man who recorded the sessions said he got a thousand dollars worth of help out of the meeting all in all the day at first church of religious science robert scott minister was quite an event I 1 want to share with you one lighttouch light touch inclusion of the program a feature I 1 called chew the cashew let me preface this by calling your attention to a recent OUTREACH lesson in which it was suggested that WE EAT TOO MUCH WE EAT TOO thoughtlessly WE EAT TOO FAST and it was proposed that spiritual understanding might conceivably correct these wrongs so we come to the cashew nut unsalted raw fresh jumbo sized hygienist william L esser insists that brazilians are the only people who truly appreciate cashews and who recognize that the cashew is related to the mango that it is not only a food but a remedy and that it is a wonderful source of protein of course we knew this all the time so I 1 passed cashew nuts among the workshop group each person took one in the manner of a communion holding it reverently while I 1 explained that we wanted to use this as a demonstration of fletcherization ie thorough mastication of food chewing the nut until it swallows itself it was a great experiment people sat quietly with closed eyes chewing away one woman claimed she chewed her cashew nut 185 times I 1 believed her because I 1 had gone chew chew over 200 times with mine now the point is this later a mother who attended the meeting called to tell me what a miracle the experiment had worked in her home she reported that lunch with her children had often been a rat race but this time she asked them to play a game with her a game called chew the cashew sure enough it worked the children took the whole thing seriously and for once in their lives they closed their eyes ate slowly silently enjoyed the sense of taste and were grateful for the art of eating in the spirit of spiritual understanding the light touch as I 1 have often said is truly the touch of light yours for the fellowship
