              OUTREACH the newsletter of awe ake 7 etuwifo 57elleatdo 6 T sfoctuai 5aeterg4t vadeow4wdev ziclentd tenwhtwhot MARCUS BACH founder NO 80 THE LETTER y dear friend of the fello feilo fellowship in a recent issue of U S news and world report the editors page was written by howard flieger and captioned COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS I 1 read it while flying in the comfort of a jet on a trip from cleveland to los angeles the time was late summer 1973 the date of the issue of the magazine was 8673 the editorial began with the comment that with all the carping and complaining thats going on it might be well to look around for a brighter side I 1 couldnt have agreed more and settling back in my seat I 1 prepared to be engrossed in some new insights into what we have to be thankful for and a mental flight into some new breakthroughs in spiritual understanding for whenever I 1 see count your blessings something nostalgic starts singing in my heart I 1 am back in church and sunday school gayly chanting count your blessings name them one by one count your blessings see what god has done but what do you think mr flieger had on his agenda to rhapsodize about and start your spirit soaring item 1 for the first time in what seems like ages there is no big war anywhere item 2 the major nations of the world have gotten together to talk things over item 3 there is hunger in the world even famine but not nearly as much as in the past item 4 sickness is no longer the scourge it was even as recently as 20 years ago item 5 people are unhappy about the bite of prices and taxes they are upset by political scandals but millions never had it so good
