ae OUTREACH the newsletter of 7 74 57ad4reoa mmclatw 57n n sux1 stuted Stu stated ree rne ted titdedmclcu US BACH DIRECTOR NO 17 W THE LETTER dear friend of FSU in a recent issue of OUTREACH we enclosed a graphic print of THE GOLDEN RULE as interpreted by ten of the worlds great religions the response to this was phenomenal A college student asked for 100 copies for his class in world history a businessman requested as many copies as you can spare a university teacher wanted 800 copies a community club asked for 500 a minister in canada wanted as many as seem reasonable we filled each and every request and then some we also received interes inheres interesting tins ting letters of appreciation and comment A lady wrote to say 1 I feel strange in the presence of the symbols accompanying the religions on THE GOLDEN RULE they differ from the usual ones by usual I 1 mean those familiar to me it would be a great aid to mankind in the struggle to assimilate past learn learning ins ing if symbols fundamental words etc would remain a bit more stable we learn something in one discipline and lo 10 even as we cross to the other side of the room our familiar world has disappeared one needs a guideman guidemap guide map for each generation not to mention each century or era how shall we dare to THINK after more years of this breakneck speed of proliferation or will we not be required to think will we just trust in the god of our heart and BELIEVE the transcendent god the conductor of the symphony sympho nyl but if each of us is tootling on his own flute in his own way how will the C conductor ductor produce any kind of harmony I 1 liked the phrase 11 tootling on his own flu fiu flute flutelt flutell telt it reminded me of the expression used by the young people with whom we work they say everybody must do his thins thing our lady writer lives in a retirement home I 1 know her she is young at heart our young people live in the open world I 1 know them they are already mature in spirit they too have crossed the room which is to say that their life and thought are constantly changing changing every day changing with every screaming
