OUTREACH the newsletter of 7 ide uncuth cUtt uncutt un gutt w sadame sfacutwi saeawl sagall umdeitcmu hteftnattmal MARCUS BACH director no 52 0 THE LETTER dear people thank you for your wonderful acceptance of the lesson on the swallows it proves something that really needs no proving we are touched and moved by the simple human things of life we are grateful for events situations people even swallows with which we can identify and through which some evidence of love compassion and tenderness make themselves felt maybe we romanticized the swallows a bit too much but it goes without saying that occasionally deep sentiments are justified and it is helpful to feel that god is is in his heaven and something is right with the world I 1 the other evening I 1 attended a symphony concert featuring the famous israeli viol violinist inist itzhak perlman when this young artist twenty six came on stage walking with the aid of crutches being a paraplegic and when he sat down and was handed his violin there passed through my mind the marvel of some peoples determination and will and indomitable spirit his playing was as inspiring as his presence violin and violinist merged into an incredible expression of artistry as he played sergei prokofieffs concerto no 2 in G minor at its close the audience rose to its feet in an ovation rarely heard and never more fully deserved the point is once again the human soul was made aware of its limitless capacity for beauty and inspiration and this is what life is all about it is easy to explain some of these great artists with the statement that they are geniuses or reincarnated souls and as you know we have devoted several lessons to these theories but in explaining them we often overlook the fact that sheer hard work commitment and the will to win are part of the secret also one must have the spirit and soul of an artist but I 1 think we all have that at some point
