OUTREACH UTREA the newsletter of we 7 ettawicfr 57emodea t sfrcttaat icc ietta iet iettm tM loenmtimnt MARCUS BACH founder NO 102 THE LETTER dear friend of the fellowship in one of my books is a chapter titled DO THE unexpected how far you wish to carry the idea is up to you lets say you have a quarrel aquarrel and instead of following your usual habit of carrying a grudge until it wears off you do the unexpected and make up immediately in other words surprise yourself and discover some rare new qualities within yourself or lets imagine you are given to good intentions but rarely follow through this time you do follow through and you experience a sense of wellbeing and greatness of spirit that is really quite wonderful some people develop a habit of doing unexpected things and it becomes part of their nature take for example the woman in petersburg illinois who last month sent every member of our FSU family a change day bookmark that was truly unexpected or consider the FSU member in ames iowa who is known in many parts of the world because of her unusual kindness and charities she is known simply as HJB and ana on the occasion of our recent looth issue of OUTREACH she paperclipped paper clipped a 100 check to a letter and sent it to our advisory board members and suggested that anyone who wished should do the same in special appreciation and support of our work the response was generous and the surprise was contagious in a way this issue of OUTREACH is a surprise too in going through a stack of mail I 1 ran into numerous requests for material of various kinds A reader requested the poem I 1 once used about a garbage man A woman said she desperately needed the religious philosophy I 1 had used years ago at a womans club meeting she had to give a talk and wanted to use it too it was titled the vagabond another wanted the story of two hills and a valley another asked for more words to live by and so on so this is a do the unexpected issue and we send it forth with good wishes wishes for some good reading special blessings and a world of appreciation for your interest and support lets simply call it SPIRITUAL understanding THROUGH HUMAN INSIGHT yours for the fellowship
