OUTREACH UTREA H the newsletter of lwe egg 57eltoat etuifa etU caa daa dea de6 ifa kat T sfrcitaat 56ew94t tiwictmeu vm4w 44d4f 9ttwnttmn MARCUS BACH founder no no190 190 igo THE LETTER dear friend of the fellowship since last months OUTREACH issue I 1 had the privilege of assisting in the dedication of a new unity center in cedar rapids iowa the event was interesting on two or three counts and sufficiently newsworthy to share with you for one thing this new building in the heartland of the hawkeye state is a solar church perhaps one of the first of its kind old sol is the furnaceman the fuel supplier and the power behind the thermostats more than that inasmuch as the symbolism of the cosmic sun and the son of god is of course inescapable it was natural that both speakers john strickland vicepresident vice president of unity school of christianity and I 1 should draw upon the parallelism since spirit generates both heat and light it was natural to assume that this unity center might serve as a prototype for future churches up and down church street USA A third reason for sharing this dedication with you is to emphasize again as we did last month that there is a growing interest in the work and OUTREACH of FSU requests for sample copies of our newsletter orders for back issues even unsolicited contributions are indications that after 190 issues we are recognized and appreciated more and more another reason for devoting this letter to the dedicatory week of activities in cedar rapids is to tell you how it feels to get back to familiar territory after an absence of some fifteen years cedar rapids and iowa city were hometowns to me during my university years of training and teaching well I 1 need not tell you about the nostalgia and inner reactions when meeting old friends you have gone all through this im sure you know the lines well you havent changed a bit id have known you anywhere seems just like yesterday that we were together etc but in and through it all runs the touch of time the touch of memories moments lived moments lost the challenge of change a longing backward look a hopeful reach into the future the coming of a solar age the mystery of the sun in the sky tugging anew at the equally mysterious power of the son of god what an interesting coincidence that this issue of OUTREACH was all ready to go and serendipitously dipi tously titled touch As A metamedicine META medicine therapy reminding us of the touch of the past and the OUTREACH into things to come lets turn to it now yours for the fellowship
