OUTREACH UTREACH the newsletter of we etueifa 57e1&ode4 etUe daa caa ifa 6 T sfrcctaac 564tet9at tielentcmcim ftfcwffffwff MARCUS BACH founder no no195 195 THE LETTER dear friend of the fellowship this letter is being written in acabie a acabin cabin overlooking jackson lake wyoming ordinarily one would also be look looking irig up at the towering summits of the grand tetons temons but today as on the three preceding days the majestic range lies hidden in mist and clouds too bad lorena and I 1 came up here on a limited schedule to get pictures of golden aspen fall foliage and the usually dramatic scenes of this picture postcard country alas and a couple of alacks alecks the aspen did not materialize this year stormy weather moved in and here I 1 am with my typewriter all prepared to say that it was an illtimed ill timed trip but suchwas such was not the case serendipitously by chance or by divine order surely they are all intricately related we had some interesting experiences one of which resulted in this current issue of OUTREACH because of the fickle weather we picked up some of the local hews news sheets published in this famous jackson hole country in one of these papers a quarterly publication called TEEWINOT we found a fascinating essay on life in the wildlife world actually though the writer may not have realized it its the story of you and me and everyone who wonders how well he or she can meet the exigencies of mortal existence SURVIVING A TETON WINTER digs deeply into the ability of animals to cope with their sojourn on planet earth but the article penetrates even deeper into the stuff of life of which we are made and the challenge for all of us to realize how fearfully and wonderfully and perfectly we are created if only we stop to think about it I 1 know that you will feel as I 1 do about this highly observant article I 1 am sure you would have done exactly as I 1 did I 1 went to the TEEWINOT office at the grand teton park association in the little crossroads town of moose and asked to meet the writer of the story naturalist linda L olson serendipity was again at my side even though the tourist season was drawing to a close she was at her desk and we had a most cordial interchange of ideas about the great out of doors in general and the land of the mightly tetons temons in particular TEEWINOT one of the official national park newspapers is an indian word meaning many pinnacles or peaks the masthead of this lively little news sheet carries a panoramic view of the teton range linda is an official
