Abstract (English)	One of the largest problems that face communities located high in the Andres Mountain range is the lack of crop diversity due to the climate characteristics of this zone. Because of this, the Benson Institute created a small subterranean greenhouse called a "panqar-huyu" which in Aymara means "flower garden" that allows cultivation of small- and medium-sized crops. This study's objective is to modify and adapt this system to cultivate table (kidney) tomatoes, for which one was enlarged, a drip irrigation system was installed, channels were dug to drain groundwater from the interior, etc. This study was done in the community of La Rinconada. Two varieties of tomato were cultivated in three different soils: sand, scraps, and a mix, becoming thus a hydroponic crop. The goal of this combination is to observe if there are physical, chemical, and organoleptic changes during the crop's development and later the harvested fruit, which will be used to make tomato sauce. At the end of the investigation, it was found that the results were favorable in different aspects: The farmers in this region found a new alternative crop which helps them avoid a loss of capital at harvest time due to climate effects. The daily diet improved, as did the nutrition level, since tomatoes are rich sources of vitamins A, B, and C, malates, and citric acids that are very important in regulating uric acid in the blood. It was demonstrated that cultivating table tomatoes hydroponically in a panqar-huyu did indeed influence the physical, chemical, and organoleptic characteristics of the cultivated varieties.
Abstract (Spanish)	Uno de los mayores problemas que enfrentan las comunidades ubicadas en lo alto de la Cordillera de los Andes es la falta de diversidad en los cultivos hortenses debido a las características climatológicas que se dan en esta zona. Por tal motivo el BAFI creo un modelo de micro invernadero semisubterraneo denominado Panqar huyu que en voz Aymara significa "cama de flores", el cual sirve para cultivar hortalizas de mediano y corto porte. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo modificar y adecuar este sistema para cultivar tomate de mesa (riñon) para lo cual se lo amplio, instalo un sistema de riego por goteo, se hizo canales para drenar las aguas freáticas en el interior del mismo, etc. La investigación se la realizo en la comunidad de la Rinconada. Se cultivo dos variedades de tomate, en tres diferentes sustratos: areno, cascajo y mixto convirtiéndolo de esta manera en un cultivo hidropónico, la finalidad de esta combinación es la de observar si existe cambios físicos, químicos y organolépticos durante el desarrollo del cultivo y luego de su cosecha en el fruto, el mismo que será utilizado para elaborar salsa de tomate. Al término de la investigación se evaluó que los resultados fueron favorables en diferentes aspectos: Los campesinos de esta zona encontraron una nueva alternativa de cultivo el cual les evita tener una perdida per capital, al momento de la cosecha por efectos de clima. La dieta diaria mejoro y el nivel nutritivo de igual manera ya que el tomate es una fuente rica en vitaminas A, B, C, malatos y citratos ácidos muy importantes en la regulación del ácido úrico de la sangre. Se demostró que el cultivar tomate de mesa en hidroponía bajo el sistema del Panqar huyu si influyó en las Características físicas, químicas y organolépticas en las variedades cultivadas.
