Abstract (English)	This study occurred at the Ventilla Ecologic farm, situated in the central Altiplano of Murillo province, 26 km from La Paz. Its objectives were to evaluate two types of irrigation, by drip and by microasperation, in spinach and Swiss lettuce in Walipinis, and to conduct an economic analysis. The genetic material used was spinach (viroflay variety) and Swiss lettuce (large-leaved variety). Chapin irrigation belts and nebulizers were used, and two tensiometers were used to determine the soil moisture. Manual planting occurred on September 1, 2002, in all experimental areas. Seeds were dispersed in a continual flow with Swiss lettuce at a density of 3.5g/m2 and three bobbins, and in spinach the density was 0.26 g/m2 in parallel, 20 cm rows with the irrigation belts on either side. The spinach harvest was spread out, while the Swiss lettuce harvest occurred all at once. A factorial arrangement was used in this study, with two factors: two levels of irrigation (drip and microasperation) and different crops (spinach and Swiss lettuce). The response variables regarding drip irrigation efficiency had a uniformity coefficient of 97%, and microasperation had 85%. The depth reached by the watered bulb after two hours of control was more than 20 cm, while the microasperation only reached 15 cm after two hours. Irrigation occurred at midday but in accordance with the readings that the tensiometers gave. The response variables studied in the crop were: percentage germination, number of leaves, plant size, leaf size, and yield. Yield showed significant differences between types of irrigation of crops. Drip irrigation was better than microasperation. The response variables that had the greatest effect on yield were number of leaves, plant size, and leaf size. The economic production analysis found negative net benefits for the first trial. In the second trial, drip irrigation netted Bs.3.54/m2 for spinach and Bs. 3.68/m2 for Swiss lettuce, recovering the investment from the first trial. In contrast, the yield from microasperation irrigation, even though the second trial had positive net results, did not recover the investment from the first trial. Finally, based on these data, drip irrigation is recommended because of its better yields and a lower installation cost.
Abstract (Spanish)	El presente trabajo se ejecuto en la granja Ecológica de Ventilla, la que se encuentra situada en el Altiplano Central de la provincia Murillo, distante a 26 Km. de la ciudad La Paz. Los objetivos planteados fueron: Evaluación de dos métodos de riego por goteo y microaspersión en espinaca y lechuga suiza en walipini y el análisis económico El material genético empleado fue la espinaca( Var. v i r o f l a y ) , y lechuga suiza ( Var. Large leaved). Se utilizaron cintas de riego "Chapin" y microaspersores "nebulizadores", para la determinación de la humedad del suelo se empleo dos tensiometros. La siembra se efectúo el 1 de septiembre del 2002 en toda el área experimental, en forma manual y distribución de la semilla fue a chorro continuo en lechuga suiza con una densidad de 3.5 gr/ m2 y tres bolillo en espinaca la densidad utilizada fue de 0.26 gr/ m2 , en surcos de 20 cm, paralelas y ambos lados de la instalación de la cinta de riego. La cosecha se realizo escalonado en espinaca y lechuga suiza solo en una oportunidad. El diseño experimental utilizado en la investigación fue un arreglo factorial con dos factores: riego con dos niveles (riego por goteo y microaspersión) y diferentes cultivos (espinaca y lechuga suiza). Las variables de respuesta en cuanto a la eficiencia del riego por goteo determino un coeficiente de uniformidad de 97% en microaspersión se determino un coeficiente de uniformidad de 85%, la profundidad alcanzada por el bulbo de húmedecimiento después de 2 horas de control fue mayor a 20 cm, en cambio en microaspersión se encontró una profundidad de 15 cm, durante 2 horas. El riego fue día por medio pero de acuerdo a las lecturas que presentaron los tensiometros. Las variables de respuesta estudiadas en el cultivo fueron: porcentaje de germinación, numero de hojas, tamaño de planta, tamaño de hoja y rendimiento. En el rendimiento se encontraron diferencias s i g n i f i c a t i v a s en los factores riego y cultivos. El riego por goteo fue mejor que el riego por microaspersión. Las variables de respuesta que mas incidencia tuvieron en el rendimiento, fueron numero de hojas , tamaño de planta, tamaño de hoja. En el análisis económico de producción se encontraron beneficios netos negativos para la primera campaña. En la segunda campaña el riego por goteo obtiene beneficios netos de 3.54 Bs/m2 en espinaca y 3.68 Bs/m2 en lechuga suiza, llegándose a recuperar lo invetido en la primera campaña. En cambio en riego por microaspersión los beneficios netos a pesar de que en la segunda campaña son positivos no se logra cubrir la inversión realizada en la primera campaña. Finalmente en base a los datos obtenidos se recomienda utilizar riego por goteo, por presentar mejores rendimientos y un bajo costo de instalación.
