April 1849
Journal of the trip to California
The team started to California on the 28
of Aprile and got
to lewis gills bridge on bear creek,
The 29 we got to Clems Mills and camped on
the wes bank
all night
{Wednes} day the 1 of {April} May we had a ^
heavy frost
Started & got 10 or twelve miles & camped
in a large
hollow where we grazed our cattle
Thursday the 2 travelled 14 miles & camped
on yellow river
here we had to graze our oxen for there is
no corn
Friday 3 morning Cloudy, starte the team
rain commenced
Soon after and continued till 10 oclock,
travelled this day
15 miles and camped, this day we got corn
at one
dollar per bushel camped on west locus
this day
Saturday 4 travelled about 12 miles
crossed a number of
Streams and camped on Medacine here is
good grazing
