preached preachedat Preachedatat S pauls may 21 r626 l6s6 i1 COR COP 15.29 1529 ELSE WHAT SHALL THEY DOE WHICH WHICHARE dre ARE BAPTIZED FOR THE DEAD IF THE DEAD RISE NOTATALL NOT AT ALL WHY WHYARE dre ARE THEY THEN BAPTIZED FOR THE DEAD enedinto ENEDinto into the handling of these words upon easter day for IENTRED though the words have received divers expositions good and pervers yet all agreed that the words were an argument for the resurrection and that invitedme invited me me to apply them to that day at that day I1 entred eltred into them with brigens origens protestation odit dominus do minus qui fentum festum ejus unum lutat putat diem god hates that man that thinks any holyday holy day of his lasts but one day that never thinks of the resurr- ection but upon easter day and therefore I1 engagedmy engagedly engaged my seife selfe will- ingly accordi according ng to the invitation and almost the necessity of the words which could not conveniently scarce possibly be determined in one day to returne beturne againe agaline and againe agaline to the handling thereof for they are words of a great extent a great compasse compassed compasse the whole circle of a christian is designed and accomplished in them for here is first the first point in that circle our birth our spirituall spirituals birth that is baptisme baptiste Baptisme why are these men thus baptized sayes the text and then here is the point directly and diametrally opposed to that first point our birth that is death why are these men thus baptized for the dead sayes the text and then the circle is carried up to the first point againe agaline to our birth in another birth in the resurrection why are these men thus baptized for the dead if there be no resur- rection so that if we consider the militant and the triumphant I1
