[49] RAMONA FARRER COTTAM 71 E. 4th SO PROVO UTAH Bro Lewis & Cannon he was well & I felt glad to see him. Sunday , 26 th Held meeting today fore & afternoon had good meetings, today baptised two more persons at this place Monday 27 th Held meeting again this morning I gave Bro. K. the privilige of speaking to the brethren he exhorted them to faithfulness & to be prepared at all times to give a reason of the hope that was in them after he got through I spoke some to them on the same subject. the brethren gener ally appeared in good spirits. after breakfast I started for Honolulu in company with Bros. Kauwahi and Makaulaula, on the way I called to see Bro. Bigler & found him in good health but not able to speak much in the native. arrived in Ho nolulu in the evening found Bro. & Sister Lewis in good health and living in a small house they had rented for 8 Dollars per month. Bro. L was studying the native languages and

| Biographical Note | Convert to the Mormon Church in 1842. He was called to go to California in the "Mormon Gold-mining Mission of 1849." From there, he was called to serve on a mission in Hawaii, 1850-1854. He helped translate the Book of Mormon into the Hawaiian language and lived in Provo when he returned to Utah. |
