| Biographical Note | Convert to the Mormon Church in 1842. He was called to go to California in the "Mormon Gold-mining Mission of 1849." From there, he was called to serve on a mission in Hawaii, 1850-1854. He helped translate the Book of Mormon into the Hawaiian language and lived in Provo when he returned to Utah. |
| Summary/Description | Six of seven handwritten volumes which focus on William Farrer's Hawaiian Mission, 1850-1854. Volume one contains accounts of his work in the California gold fields prior to his mission call. Volume seven is entirely in the Hawaiian language and does not appear in this database. |
