The Mountain Meadow Massacre.
On our first page will be found an account of the execution of John D. Lee, the leader of the infamous Moun-tain Meadows massacre, which stands unequaled in American history in its atrocity and dastardy. Lee left what purports to be his confession of his hor-rible crime behind him, and implicates several Mormon dignitaries; but he is not direct in the charge that Brigham Young was a party to it, as it was sup-posed he would be. However, Lee has contradicted himself so often that it may be safe to say that his final state-ment is not what it might be. Thus the massacre of an entire train of men, women and children, numbering near two hundred, has received its first in-stallment of vengeance. May the liv-ing participants of this terrible affair be brought to summary justice and the mysteries that enshroud it be fully re-vealed.
