THE MORMONS. This singular sect seems to be still going ahead. A "Second General Epistle" has been lately issued from the Salt Lake "to the Saints scattered throughout the earth."
They have formed a town or city at Brownville, forty miles to the north, and at Utah, sixty miles to the south of Salt Lake City, at which place settle-ments had been made. Sand Pitch Valley is des-ignated as another place for location. The Coun-cil House, baths at the Warm Spring House, an extensive stone house and granary, were all in pro-gress of erection. They have devised a plan for raising a perpetual fund, to assist the "poor Saints" to emigrate to the Salt Lake Valley, fulfill-ing in this respect the covenants in the Temple, that "all the Saints who were obliged to leave Nauvoo should be located at some gathering place."
A general system of proselyting has been adopted. All the apostles in the valley are going abroad, and the names of 3 to France, 2 to Italy, (one of them being Erastus Snow, formerly ot Sa-lem,) 8 to England. 1 to Sweden, and 1 to the Western Islands. Elder Orson Pratt, it is said, is doing a great work in England. Elder Woodruff is located at Cambridgeport, Mass.
