Boe is from England where he has starred in "Les Miserables", "Romeo et Juliette" and many other productions. The performance began with "Marechiare." The Sinfonietta watched conductor Dallin Hansen, who watched Boe for cues as they moved through the song. As the song ended more of the crowd was allowed in, and Boe asked the latecomers, "Do you want us to start again?" The crowd laughed as "O Sole Mio" began. " I don't have a clue what that was about" Boe said at the end of the song. The crowd clapped as the singer introduced "Torna a Surriento" which CONTINUED ON PAGE 15 BONNIE MONSEN | Scroll Photography Alfie Boe and the BYU-Idaho Sinfionetta performed March 16 and 18 to sold out crowds in the Ruth H. Leroy Knight Jr., 22, from Tuscaloosa, Ala., was cited for procuring alcohol for minors, and Mackenzie L. Dayley, 18, from Vancouver, Wash., was cited for illegal consumption of alcohol. The incident occurred in an off-campus apartment complex. The police were notified of the drinking after receiving an anonymous phone call from someone who suspected there were minors drinking. Underage consumption charges are a usual occurrence in Rexburg, said Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis. However, most people cited for drinking are not students. "We get a lot of underage consumption charges but they're not all students" Lewis said. Lewis estimates that only 1 out of 20 illegal consumption incidents that the Rexburg police are aware of involve BYU-Idaho students. Possible legal consequences for illegal consumption of alcohol include $1,000 fines, losing a driver's license, and supervised probation for a year. In addition, supervised probation may include curfews, being banned from seeing certain friends, random blood tests, and frequent meetings CONTINUED ON PAGE 12 BIKE SAFETY ISSUES OCCUR AS WEATHER WARMS UP, PAGE 3 NEWS NO-FLY-ZONE ENFORCED OVER LIBYA, PAGE 10 ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT GUITARS UNPLUGGED FINALISTS ENTERTAIN, PAGE 15 SPORTS COMPETITIVE BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS, PAGE 22 HOUSE EDITORIAL: BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS WHEN CROSSING THE STREET, PAGE 26 |
