Description |
The Neolithic Period, or New Stone Age, began around 7000 BC with the development of new polished stone tools, such as the one depicted here. The new tools included ground and polished celts (ax heads), chisels and gouges, and were often made from jadeite, diorite, or schist. These new tools were superior to previous ones for a number of reasons, including the even cutting edge, superior strength and more stable handling. Neolithic tools enable new possibilities with wood as an almost universal building material. |
