Ann Eliza vs. Brigham—The Prophet Worsted.
SALT LAKE, July 21.
The three motions argued and submitted to the Court Tuesday in the Ann Eliza. case were passed upon by Chief Justice Schaeffer to-day. Rulings sustain Judge McKean's order, com-manding the Prophet Brigham to pay Ann Eliza temporary alimony—five bundled dollars a month—but they suggest n milder means of enforcing payment thereof. It is the opinion of many attorneys that Brigham Young is m constructive and actual contempt of Court; yet friends and attorneys of plaintiff considers that tae rulings were honest and able, and constitute an-other victory for Ann Eliza. Brig-ham's counsel seemed satisfied of his escaping so easily. The amount of the accrued alimony due Ann Eliza now amounts to $18,000, Brigham having paid only five hundred dollars since the order of the Court was made, three years ago.
