UTAH TERRITORY.
An Irrepressible Conflict—Church Tele-grams Flood the Country with False-hoods—Another Legal Breeze.
SALT LAKE, Feb. 18.—The irrepressible conflict still goes on. All the papers, Mormon and Gentile, are loaded down with matters concerning the Utah ques-tion. Money in abundance is sent to Washington in payment for the services of Tom Fitch and kind in behalf of the Mor-mon cause. Ex-Territorial Secretary Ful-ler, ex-acting Governor Mann and various other renegade Gentiles are working like beavers to prevent the dreaded legislation.
Paid special dispatches are sent by the Deseret Telegraph to various papers east and west, which deprecate the President's policy, setting forth that conservative Gen-tiles think his special message will ma-terially injure business and is based on wrong information. Every unprejudiced and truthful business man in the commu-nity who does not yield allegiance to Brigham Young, testifies to the utter falsity of these Church telegrams.
Another breeze was raised by the refusal of the Clerk of the United States District Court to accede to the request of the representative of the Mormon Territorial Attorney to issue a venire for a grand jury.
