BRIGHAM YOUNG in the Salt Lake Peniten-tiary, and forced to disgorge $3,000 to pay ANN ELIZA'S lawyers, besides $25 as a fine, was the spectacle which the Latter-Day Saints were yesterday called upon to contem-plate. The Prophet went to jail like any common man, and surrendered the legal-ten-der with a rueful countenance, and there was neither an earthquake nor a slaughter of Gentiles in consequence. It appears to have dawned upon the Mormon intellect that there is such a thing as a United States Govern-ment.
