Obituary.
The Deseret News, the Mormon organ at Salt Lake City, speaks as follows of the late Mrs. Mary Howell, wife of Esdras Howell, of Hyde Hark;
The deceased was well known to many of the traveling elders of this Church, who will recall numerous acts of kindness from her Hands while staying beneath her hospitable roof. She was formerly a member of the church and came to Utah, but returned and, we are sorry to say, afterward departed from the Faith. She was an active opponent of some of the prominent principles of the Gos-pel, and often bitterly expressed her opposi-tion, but at the same time would show great kindness to the advocates of those principles.
The writer having known her personally, can testify to the truth of the above enconium on her character.
