— THE MORMONS, it appears, treat the Fourth of July with silent contempt, cele-brating instead the 24th of July, on which day, in 1847, they arrived in Utah Valley. They are so independent of the General Gov-ernment that they have as a toast on public occasions: "We can rock the cradle of lib-erty without Uncle Sam to help us." It is not probable, however, that Uncle Sam will ever have the least desire to rock a Mormon cradle, or to foster in any way the offspring of either Brigham Young or any of his debauched associates.
