As an infant, Piper McCloud could float, and at the age of nine she taught herself how to fly. Her very practical parents kept her on the farm because people being able to fly "ain't the way of things." But when Piper demonstrates her ability in front of a large crowd the government shows up to take her to a school full of other extraordinary children.
