With succinct text and cheerful large illustrations, the brief story is told to delight and instruct (in case you are wondering what might happen if you bring a kitten home to your already well-situated cat). Voake knows cats very well indeed, from the side-eyed glare of Ginger, to the kitten's takeover strategy. The very young will love it; the cat people will say “Oh yes, of course,” and read it again.
