Description	The palace at Knossos was the largest of the Minoan palaces and served as the home of the legendary king Minos. This palace complex was named and excavated in 1900 by the Englishman Arthur Evans. The complex, whose floorplan resembles that of a maze, recalls the mythological story of the Minotaur which was housed in a large labyrinth. This fresco, which is found today at the South Propylaea at the Palace of Minos is Knossos, depicts a striding figure who is wearing a crown that is adorned with lilies. Arthur Evans nicknamed this fresco the "Priest-King" and it also is called the "Prince of the Lilies." The fresco is composed of nonjoining fragments that have been restored, but scholars doubt the authenticity of the restoration. It is also unknown if this figure is actually a "Priest-King" since the left arm of the original fresco is missing and the interpretation of his gesture is unknown. However, if the lower part of the body does match up with the torso and crown, then it is possible that the figure is a "leaper" since Minoan codpieces were often worn by individuals involved in lively activity such as bull-leaping.
