Any duplication of studio music track recordings are prohibited unless accompanied by written permission from the copyright owner. For most of the scores written during Steiner's RKO and Warner Brothers years up to 1948, the copyright owner is Turner Entertainment. Warner Brothers, in most instances, retains copyright for that studio's scores written in 1949 and through Steiner's final score in 1965. The same restriction applies to the written music manuscripts. Also, owing to the fragile nature of the originals, the researcher will only be permitted to research a photographic copy of the original pencil sketches in the collection. Consult archival staff for applicable scores. It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances.Permission to publish material from the Max Steiner Collection must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Board of Curators.
