Inasmuch as the DeMille Archives document the life of a motion picture producer and director, it is essential to understand that using these papers, videotapes, photographs, and art pieces often involved multiple clearance, particularly if the use is for publication. The reproduction and publication of motion picture scripts is granted only with the written permission of the copyright holder, most often Paramount Pictures and the DeMille Estate. The videotapes (or any part thereof) of DeMille motion pictures in the Archives may not be duplicated without written permission of the copyright holders, most often Paramount Picture and the DeMille Estate. It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain any necessary copyright clearances.Permission to publish material from The Cecil B. DeMille Archives must be obtained from the Supervisor of Reference Services and/or the Special Collections Board of Curators.
