Pictured are President J. Golden Kimball, Lucy Woodruff Smith, George Albert Smith, and Elias S. Kimball. George Albert left for his mission less than one month after his marriage to Lucy. Lucy was later given permission to become her husband's missionary companion. They served as secretaries to President J. Golden Kimball in Tennessee. In the absence of the mission president, Elder Smith was acting president and served in that capacity for sixteen months until their release in June of 1894.
