The grave of Rebecca Winters, who died August 15, 1852 while crossing the plains (grave in background). Originally a wagon wheel was used to mark the grave. When the railroad was built, it was shifted to avoid the grave. In 1902 Rebecca's descendants erected this monument. In 1995 the grave was moved 900 feet east of the original historical marker. The Rebecca Winters grave is located just outside Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
