Flagstaff, Arizona is situated at the base of the San Francisco Peaks. Flagstaff was settled at the same time the Saints were attempting to establish towns on the Little Colorado River some sixty miles to the east. The city has strong ties to the Latter-day Saints, including Elder Wilford Woodruff, who spent some time in this area. Reaching an elevation over 12,000 feet, these peaks are the highest in the state of Arizona.
