The Little Colorado River runs from near the area of Eager, in eastern Arizona, to the Grand Canyon of the Colorado. Unfortunately, Latter-day Saint settlements on the Little Colorado failed because that river was either a trickle of dirty, unfresh water or a torrent running out of control, washing away dams, dykes, or anything built to hold some of the precious water. This view shows the site of the Sunset crossing of the Little Colorado near present-day Winslow, Arizona. The stone foundation in the water just in front of the bridge is where the Saints crossed.
