Originally owned by William Staines, the property on which this home was built was purchased by William Jennings in 1867. The name came from the Jennings' residence in England. A man of means and, at one time, mayor of Salt Lake City, William Jennings offered this home as a place to entertain distinguished guests on behalf of the city and the Church. Such people as Thomas L. Kane, territorial governors, and a president of the United States stayed here.
