Description	The expansive Sweetwater Valley in central Wyoming extends from the area of Independence Rock on the east, to beyond Split Rock on the west. This valley derived its name from the life-giving Sweetwater River, which snakes its way through it. The Mormon Pioneer, Oregon, California, and Pony Express trail ran through the valley, crossing the river numerous times.
