Members of the Pioneer Company, including President Brigham Young, crossed the Green River near this site in early July 1847. Some of the men stayed and established a permanent ferry here. Before leaving, the company met several members of the Mormon Battalion who had wintered in Pueblo, Colorado. They also encountered Sam Brannon who had journeyed from the San Francisco area to meet with President Young. This site is about twenty-six miles west of Farson, Wyoming where SR 28 crosses the Green River.
