Located several miles southeast of Salt Lake City, Holladay was likely the first pioneer settlement in Utah outside of Salt Lake City. Originally known as the settlement of Spring Creek, it was later called Holladay's Burgh in honor of John D. Holladay who served as the area's first Branch President. This view shows Spring Creek, where settlers built dugouts during the winter of 1847-48.
