The Bowman papers include correspondence, inter-office memos, certificates, newspaper clippings, albums and scrapbooks, journalism class assignments, class lecture notes, editorial budgets, genealogy, photographs, publications, and memorabilia.; The collection is arranged with a biographical section of personal papers first, followed by sections of education and employment in chronological order. The last section is comprized of various newspaper clippings. Specifically, the sections are as follows:; Biographical. This section contains personal correspondence from 1922-1973 dealing primarily with friends, family, jobs, school, and an alumni association from Utah Agricultural College; business correspondence; personal books; family correspondence and genealogy; public service; and retirement. There are 200 photographs in the collection including two albums of family photos, many taken at Bowman's retirement parties, college sports photos, Tribune newspapers staff, and various picture postcards.; High School and Early College Years. In this section is a collection of dance cards and other memorabilia collected from high school. Being an avid sports enthusiast, most of the papers concerning Utah Agricultural College are about sports events, some in which Bowman participated.; Early Years as a Reporter. Clippings from the agricultural column edited by Bowman in the Ogden Standard-Examiner from October 1925 to September 1926 are included along with a copy of The Journal from Logan City in which Bowman had a front page article on floods in Northern Utah.; Columbia School of Journalism. In this section are class notes, writing assignments, records and memorabilia from the college and dorm, and articles by Bowman which appeared in the New York World and the Real Estate Daily News in 1927. These articles were mostly concerned with the National Guard, real estate, and various human interest stories.; Ogden Standard-Examiner. There are a number of newspaper clippings of articles written by Bowman including sports articles, book reviews, human interest stories, public utility projects, and civic events. Also included are newspaper articles about Bowman while he was employed at theStandard- Examiner.; Salt Lake Telegram. This is a small section containing newspaper announcements about Bowman's transfer to the Telegram and an editorial budget for September, 1937.; Salt Lake Tribune. A large part of this section are memos concerning the business of the newspaper. Also included is an editorial budget, telephone directories of newspaper employees, and the paper's style guide for writing.; Utah Power and Light. This section is small when compared with the years Bowman was Publicity Director of UP&L. It contains articles about Bowman when in the company's employ, annual reports, and miscellaneous publicity and advertising brochures.; Newspaper Clippings. This section contains an array of miscellaneous newspaper clippings that Bowman collected. They include many sports articles (some of which were written by Bowman), clippings of murders, disasters, and identified by publication, date, or author, but it is know that Bowman covered police stories early in his career and the articles were probably written by him.
